The Cherokee Sheriff's Office says Lilly and another child were at their home on Ball Ground Highway with the children's uncle, who also lives with the family. Her mother and father weren't home at the time.

The toddler was on the front porch of a Ball Ground Highway home about 7 p.m. when her uncle’s boss pulled into the driveway to deliver the man’s paycheck, sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Jay Baker said Tuesday in an emailed statement. Another child was on the porch, too.

“The two adults met for a short period of time with the employer apparently never exiting the vehicle or parking the car,” Baker said. “There are no indications of any type of impairment of anyone involved,” Baker said.

The girl was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital and later flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, 17-year-old Olivia Bachman was traveling west-bound on county road C54 in a 2008 Pontiac Torrent, 2 miles south of Thor when her vehicle collided with a north-bound 2010 Toyota Highlander driven by 64-year-old Paul Doster at the intersection with county road P66 just before 5pm.
Bachman’s vehicle entered the NW ditch where it struck a utility pole and rolled onto its top. Doster’s vehicle came to rest in the ditch as well.
According to the accident report, Bachman’s vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign before entering the intersection.
Bachman was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Unsure of what to do, Mews' sister called the Ashland County Communications Center. La Pointe Police investigated and found out the family had left Madeline Island in a kayak.

Authorities quickly scrambled the U.S. Coast Guard, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Bayfield Fire and Rescue, the National Park Service and the USGS Research Vessel Kiyi for a water air search and rescue mission.

A crew of about 50 people battled through a thunderstorm and visibility of less than 100 yards to find the family, KBJR reported.

A teen died when she lost control of her SUV and hit a tree on Monday in Laurens County, highway patrol troopers said.

The crash happened at 1:40 p.m. on SC 560 near Mountville Road, troopers said.

The driver of a 2003 Subaru was traveling west on SC 560 when she went off the right side of the road, lost control and hit a tree, troopers said.

The coroner identified her as Claudia Haynes, 18, of Mount Pleasant. The coroner said she was a student at Lander University. She died from blunt force trauma to the neck and chest.

Troopers said that Haynes was wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.
