A 21 year old OSU student died at a Portland hospital after she fell 100 feet from a cliff on  the Oregon Coast.  FOX12 reports Michelle Casey and her boyfriend had stopped to take pictures at the Neahkahnie Mountain viewpoint along Highway 101. They stepped over the retaining wall and she slipped and fell.  She was taken by Life Flight to Legacy Emmanuel Hospital, where she died.

Sara Stelzer, a freshman from Moorpark in Ventura County, began experiencing flu-like symptoms the night of Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014 and was admitted to a hospital on Tuesday. Dr. Gregg Lichtenstein, director of Student Health Services at SDSU, said Stelzer was diagnosed with meningococcal meningitis in an email on Wednesday.

Lichtenstein said in a press conference Thursday that Stelzer was in critical condition. Early Friday morning, Oct. 17, 2014 Stelzer was taken off of life support.
Sara Beth Stelzer was only 18 years old and a freshman at San Diego State University when she passed away. She died from Serogroup B meningococcal disease. Her family thought she had the flu, but meningitis took her from them only 36 hours from her first symptoms.

The accident happened at around 7:50 a.m. Thursday on FM 107 between Mound and Gatesville.

Janisch was westbound in a 2003 Chevrolet pickup when she lost control of the truck, which overturned, ejecting her ,She was not wearing a seat belt, he said.

News of her death stunned classmates.

Katie’s brother Terence (Terry) Ryan told the jury that she had stayed with him at his home in Ballaghaderreen on the night of December 8th, 2016. She was back working three days a week as a hairdresser at this stage. She had been shopping with her mother and sister in Galway that day. They had gone to the Christmas market and she had gone on the Ferris Wheel, after buying a ticket for her mother who would not go on it.

Mr Ryan recalled that he went to call Katie the next morning at 8.30am. He knocked on her door and went into her room when there was no reply. When he turned on the light he saw that her forehead was very white and her eyes were open. She was unresponsive and he dialled 999. The jury heard that Katie was pronounced dead at the scene by local GP Dr Martin Garvey at 9.35am.

Gene mutation

Prof Andrew Green , Professor of Medical Genetics at University College Dublin, said he had carried out tests and had found evidence that Katie had a gene mutation which made her predisposed to cardiac arrhythmia. Under cross-examination, Prof Green said he was aware that the issue of sepsis had been raised and it was “difficult to know for certain what happened on the night she died”.

The Toyota’s 18-year-old driver and an 18-year-old passenger both suffered major injuries and were transported to a local hospital, officials said.

Zazueta’s BMW bounced off the Toyota and careened down a 200 feet embankment, according to the release. He sustained moderate injuries and was also hospitalized.

Lily would want nothing more through this than for everyone to seek Jesus. She loved our Savior so deeply, if you would do me the tiniest favor, and speak so simply to our Creator, and ask Him to reveal Himself through this tragedy to you and each and every one that learns of it, I would be so grateful.

For Lily’s life to be a legacy of His goodness, hope and love, that would be exactly what He put her here for. She wanted everyone to have a close personal relationship with our Creator and Savior Jesus Christ."

There were two vehicles involved,” said Sgt. Rick Denneson, of West Hennepin Public Safety. “One was a passenger car, the other was a semi-truck and it looked like a head-on crash.”

Saturday’s crash occurred at the intersection of Lake Haughey road and the undivided stretch of the infamous corridor.

“The highway was extremely slippery, it looked like pavement but it was ice,” Denneson said.

18-year-old Marleena Anna Dieterich, of Delano, was in a 2002 Acura sedan headed east on Hwy. 12 when she lost control, spun over the center line into the westbound lane and collided with an oncoming semi-truck.

“He was traveling under the speed limit because he knew the roads were slippery and he was trying to be cautious,” Denneson said.

The truck driver tried to swerve out of the way, but was unable to avoid the crash.

What is clear is that the area needs improvements like concrete barriers, but they aren’t scheduled to begin until 2021.
