socialism in medicine and healthcare
Sun Feb 24, 2019 3
on thursday Feb 21, 2019 i got my mom cataract surgery which i was planned 2 months ago, in December 2018
since my mom worked for 30+ years she has social security and medicare and we choose coventry which is now Aetna.
we found an in network provider and it turns out due to governmental laws
cataract surgery is seen as medically necessary, not elective
it was completely covered.
i don't know who or how, but someone long before from a long tim ago decided cataract surgery would be completely covered and it was. we had no out of pocket expenses.
so the insurance is socialized. the healthcare provider, the eye surgeon was private practice who accepted our insurance.
i'm kinda happy.
for my mom, cataract surgery is a lot like jesus healing the eyes of the blonde, only it uses modern medicine and science.
sadly, dental is NOT covered, except free teeth cleaning and xrays.
my mother also is missing several teeth and has tooth decay and gum disease.
for that i will have to pay out of pocket, insurance doesn't cover it.
so when socialism covers cataracts i'm pleased
socialism doesn't cover dental
i've heard of all the big issues from global warming and this green deal to abortion gun control etc
but personally i'd like to see dental covered by insurance, of course the money is going to come from somewhere.
i agree some things are elective, but surely dental care and gum disease should be covered.
i kinda like the idea of medicare for all, universal health care.
when i was a university student, my fees and tuition payed for an insurance carrier, which we had free services, and the university clinic which offered the usual health care was all free.
i mostly took advantage of acne treatment, from antibiotics to benzol peroxide to finally using accutane.
i know female students got free pelvic exams for their gyno needs.
i'm a bit unclear how a university is able to offer students free health care, but the federal goverment doesn't, though i know that money is involved.
and there are a lot of people in the usa.
maybe we don't need such a large and expensive military.
bernie sanders is running on free coleges, free health care as a right, and a green deal to deal with climate change.
i'm not sure if he can actually implement this but i'm pleased that medicare aetna is covering cataract surgery
my mother is mising several teeth due to tooth decay and 1 tooth implant is about 2 grand.
i kinda wish medicare would cover that and gum disease, such as root planing and scaling which is also 2 grand.

I’m happy for your Mom. It’s coming out of the dark into the light. Another form of enlightenment that touches the heart.

I’ve been working on a few projects. Sometimes I just can’t find my voice on the Internet. I’m pretty sure nobody listens to me anyway.

Oh no. It’s not a deliberate thing. It’s complicated. I run out of things to say. When something happens in Boulder that I think is moving closer to the truth, I’ve not been able to generate much interest. I mean, the roof is falling on Shambhala or so it appears. I keep thinking another shoe is going to drop anytime.
