Her car was found only after someone called to report a power outage in the area.

But that's not how her loved ones will remember her.

Jennifer A. Miller, 31, and Nicolas S. Rose, 26, were arrested Wednesday in connection to the death of their daughter, Alliee Nicole Rose, inside a parked car last month, according to the Idaho Statesman.

Police said the family was sleeping with a space heater in a car parked outside a Boise Walmart when a fire started.

Miller and her young son, Lane, were sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries but the little girl didn’t survive the fire. She was pronounced dead around 5 a.m. in the parking lot, authorities said.

Miller was charged with felony injury to a child while Rose faces a felony burglary charge and misdemeanor petit theft.
Authorities said they believe Rose stole the portable heating device that likely started the fire.

"It was at that point really that Sophie became very unwell and it was at that point I felt the services started to let us down.

"She self-harmed quite significantly.

"She tried to kill herself on two previous occasions and neither of those were really taken seriously by NHS Tayside."

Mrs Moss, who now lives in Edinburgh, said Sophie was deemed unsuitable for in-patient care despite repeated requests.

She said: "I actually approached her psychologist and said Sophie needs to be admitted.

"The feeling I was left with was she wasn't bad enough.

"Sophie had two previous (suicide) attempts and she self-harmed. In spite of all that information it wasn't deemed appropriate."

Miss Moss said while she had "nothing against" Sophie being seen by a trainee clinical psychologist, there needed to be a level of senior involvement in terms of risk assessment and children presenting as high risk.

She said: "That was lacking in Sophie's case.

"I came out feeling that Sophie was let down by a service that didn't take her seriously and didn't take me seriously."

Mrs Moss said that the "end result" of this was that Sophie took her own life.

She said: "The warning signs were there and in my view should have been picked up on by professionals that are in this every single day.

"I come from an acute setting where patient safety is paramount, patient care is paramount.

"If somebody is deteriorating on an acute ward there is a process for risk assessing that person and making sure that intervention happens."

Mrs Moss said she believed the investigation following Sophie's death was inadequate.

She said: "That was not robust and rigorous in my view. It tended to pick the things I'd complained about and answered them, but it wasn't an independent review process.

"NHS Tayside investigate NHS Tayside. Turkeys don't vote for Xmas and there seems to be a flaw in that right from the start.

"We need a process here whereby parents of children who have died in the health service have an ability to find out what went wrong and be absolutely reassured that the investigation is robust."

Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan told the Salina Journal that Taylor Patterson, of Woodstock, Ga., was driving a Can Am Maverick x3 UTV west in the 400 block of East Assaria Road at about 4:45 p.m. Sunday when she lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons.

The UTV overturned and Patterson was partially ejected and pinned under the vehicle, Soldan said.

The Gulf Breeze community is mourning after a 14-year-old died in a house fire early Sunday morning. Skye Raine Farej was pronounced dead at an area hospital. She had just graduated from Gulf Breeze Middle School on Friday. The Midway Fire Department Fire Chief Jonathan Kanzigg said the fire broke out around 12:30 a.m. on the 3500 block of Laguna Court . Chief Kanzigg said the fire started on the outside and spread incredibly fast when it moved inside.

Skylar Farej, a recent graduate of Gulf Breeze Middle School, had a friend sleeping over at the family's house in the 3500 block of Laguna Court when a blaze broke out in the three-story house at 12:44 a.m. Sunday.

Her friend was forced to jump from the third-floor balcony to escape, and the two other people in the home — Skylar's brother, Kyle, and her mom, Meghan — made it out unharmed.

Skylar was transported to the hospital but died as a result of her injuries.

"She was very athletic, she played softball, soccer, and she pretty much tried everything when she was younger," he said. "She was the sweetest, happiest girl, and every time I think of her, I think about that huge smile. You always hear when somebody dies about how great they were but it's just so true with her."

A 12-year-old Arlington girl was killed after an accidental shooting near Cle Elum over the weekend, according to the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office.

The girl, Sydney Darnell, was target practicing with her mother’s boyfriend Sean A. Frick, 52, of Cle Elum on Sunday.

Sydney had just shot a lever action 22 rifle and wanted to check the target so she laid the rifle down on the deck railing so she could walk down the hill, according to a news release.

Frick noticed she left the rifle loaded with the hammer cocked back so he attempted to make the rifle safe. The gun went off when he attempted to lower the hammer. Sydney, who had walked off the deck, and was in the direct path of the round.

Her mother, Kiara Darnell, called 911 while Frick started CPR on Sydney, who was unresponsive. A Sheriff’s Deputy assisted in performing life saving measures until emergency medical personnel from Fire Districts 6, 7 and Medic One arrived.

Sydney was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center around 1:40 p.m. and survived on life support until Monday morning.

Sydney's mother called 911 and Frick performed CPR on the child until help arrived, authorities said. The child was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where she was put on life support.

The girl was pronounced dead at about 9:30 am on Monday, the authorities said.

On Memorial Day, the girl was fatally shot in Olympia Fields by the 14-year-old brother of a friend when an antique gun he was showing her discharged while he attempted to remove shells from the weapon.

Nathalie Reed and a friend hiked the trail down to Three Sisters Falls on Tuesday morning, but in the afternoon, the friend noticed that Reed appeared to be dehydrated and hyperthermic, or overheated, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Reed “stumbled and fell into the bushes along the trail, and a bystander called 911 from an emergency phone on the trail,” the Medical Examiner’s Office said.

Sheriff’s officials received that call around 6 p.m. and immediately sent medical personnel and deputies in a sheriff’s helicopter to attempt to rescue Reed, sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Galve said. The helicopter airlifted Reed to the trailhead as paramedics performed CPR, but she was pronounced dead at 7:20 p.m.

The crash occurred at 3:35 p.m. at the intersection of 1100 East and 1400 North, east of Shelley in Bingham County. Johnson was attempting to pass a Caterpillar Road Grader as it was turning left. Her vehicle struck the side of the Caterpillar and then struck an electrical pole.

Olivia Johnson, 17, of Shelley was killed in a traffic accident earlier this month on her way to work.

Olivia was driving behind a tractor on June 14 and tried to pass it. The car knicked the side of it, throwing her and the vehicle into a telephone pole. A short time later, she was pronounced dead at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.

“It’s been really hard. I didn’t believe it at first,” Olivia’s friend, Mady Smith, tells EastIdahoNews.com. “We’ve been close friends since we were six. I couldn’t believe she was gone.”

Mady says Olivia had many friends at Idaho Falls High School, where she participated in soccer and softball.

“She always had a smile on her face that no one could forget and was an amazing athlete,” Mady says.

Memphis police have identified a shooting victim found dead inside a vehicle on the 2700 block of Fizer Road in Orange Mound last week.
Vallen Conner was pronounced dead at the scene after being found with a gunshot wound inside her 2004 Dodge Stratus at about 11 p.m. on May 22. Another person was wounded in the shooting. Police say a several men in a tan Chevrolet Trailblazer fired multiple rounds at Conner's car. The homicide is under investigation

Her sister was helped from the water by a friend, but Miller was sucked through a grate on the north side of the dam. Swimming is prohibited in the area due to strong undercurrents. A fisherman on the south side of the dam saw Miller facedown in the water and dragged her to shore to perform CPR on her. She had no pulse and was not breathing when she was pulled from the water.
