The two girls and their grandmother were hit just after 12pm on Sunday while at Nambour Mill Village.

The girls’ mother witnessed the entire tragedy unfold but wasn’t hurt, police said.

Witnesses said the mother was heard screaming “My babies, my babies” after the horrific crash.

“All you could hear was (the mother) crying and saying, ‘my babies, my babies’,” a witness told 9NEWS.

Dozens of people attended a candlelight vigil last night to honour Indie while her eight-year-old sister and 57-year-old grandmother were treated in hospital.

The local Yandina family the Armstrong have lost their precious daughter Indie  who was only 6 years old.  Their eldest Lily has suffered leg injuries and is in hospital currently getting treatment.

The family of a Manchester elementary school student is speaking out after they said the 11-year-old girl took her own life following months of bullying.

Skylar Desmarais, 11, a fifth-grader at Highland-Goffe’s Falls Elementary School, died Wednesday, family members and school officials said. She was found by a family member in her father’s home in Pittsfield, according to her grandmother, Teri Desmarais of Manchester.

“She had big blue eyes and beautiful, blonde curls ... and I’ll never see them again,” Desmarais said Thursday afternoon. “She was bullied for months on the bus, by kids saying if they looked like Skylar they would kill themselves. This has got to stop. The bullying has got to stop.”

Desmarais said Skylar lived with her in her Queen City home, but was preparing to live with her dad, Michael, and his fiancee Hope Shafer by the end of the summer. She was visiting the couple when she took her life.

“Skylar was such a beautiful soul,” said Shafer. “Loved by all she met. She was spunky and beat to her own drum, so sweet, funny, goofy, talented in so many ways. She had the most loving big heart and would do anything in the world to make anyone happy.”

“She loved drawing and music, a typical 11-year-old,” said Desmarais. “If she found a bug inside, she would make sure you didn’t hurt it and (go) let it outside. Everyone that knew her loved her.”

But Desmarias and Shafer said students on the bus and at school “tormented” Skylar on everything from her appearance to who she preferred to be around.

“She is a victim of bullying, and in the end, despite our efforts, the burden of her pain was too much to bear and she took her life at such an innocent age,” said Shafer. “My sweet baby girl is gone because the school couldn’t or wouldn’t do anything to stop it. And the kids who bullied her were relentless and thought they were funny for the mean and cruel things they said to her.”

School district’s response

Manchester School District spokesman Andrea Alley said she could not comment at this time on claims by Skylar’s family that school administrators were aware of the bullying activity and “couldn’t or wouldn’t” work to prevent it.

A young life taken far too soon. Jennifer was the daughter of the late Michael Wayne Short and Mary Frances Short. She was soon to be a 4th grader at Figsbro Elementary School

It's been 20 years since Jennifer Odom stepped off her school bus in rural Brooksville, Florida, the last anyone saw of her before the 12-year-old's body was found six days later on a nearby horse trail.

Jennifer's family reported nothing unusual in the days leading up to the girl's disappearance on Feb. 19, 1993.

Jennifer and her sister Jessica normally came home from school on two different buses; the girls played hide-and-seek, and one would sometimes try to lock the other out of the house, depending on who arrived home first.

When Jessica arrived home Feb. 19, the door was locked. Jessica, who was 9 at the time, went to her grandmother's home nearby and got a key.

When she looked around her home, Jennifer wasn't there.

The girls' parents came home from work and called authorities. Over the next six days, volunteers on horseback and worried parents scoured the horse farms and orange groves looking for the honor roll student.

"There was definitely a loss, a loss of innocence," said Beaumont, whose daughter was in the same class as Jennifer and who had been to Jennifer's home for a slumber party just months before the disappearance.

"I can't think of anybody allowing their child anymore, just get off the bus and walk home alone."

On the sixth day of searching, Jennifer's body was found on a horse trail several miles from her home.

The family lived in Pasco County, but the girl was found in neighboring Hernando County.
nvestigators identified the girl by her gold chain with a half-heart charm that said "best friends," and through fingerprints.

Authorities have not released details about exactly how the girl died.

Two years later, Jennifer's book bag and clarinet were found in a trash pile in the woods, 30 miles from her home and 18 miles from where her body was found.

At the time, investigators said the way those items were concealed suggested the killer was local and familiar with back roads and out-of-the-way places to hide things

The town of Smithville is in mourning after a 5-year-old girl died over the weekend.

Some called Macklyn Lucas the “Princess of Smithville,” and now a famous friend is working to raise money to help the family.

Macklyn was killed after the car her mother was driving crashed Sunday night.

Family friend and country singer Casi Joy is trying to help lessen some of the burdens. The singer posted photos on her Facebook page earlier this week memorializing the little girl who used to sing along at her shows.

Macklyn’s mother, Samantha Jones, was driving about 9:30 p.m. Sunday after she admits she’d been drinking, court records state.

The minivan she was driving went off the road and crashed into an electrical pole. It all happened at the intersection of Skinner Lake Road and Highway E in rural Platte County about 20 minutes from Smithville.

According to court records, Jones can be heard saying, “My baby is my world. I don’t care if I go to jail, I just want my baby to be OK.”

Jones was booked into jail Sunday night and charged with a DWI after a breath test showed her blood alcohol level was .186. She posted $5,000 in bond and is now awaiting her next court date.

Macklyn was supposed to start kindergarten at Maple Elementary School at the end of the summer, just a few weeks away.

She had just turned 5 years old.

Her principal said she is already missed. "She was a happy girl," Principal Rena Hawkins said. “We are already seeing the impact. She had several friends in daycare and from the community, so we have several sad students.”

Witnesses described how people tried to catch Ava-May Littleboy when the inflatable "exploded" on Gorleston beach, Norfolk on Sunday.

Ava-May, who died in hospital, had been at the beach with members of her family.

"She lived her life for Christ, and to see all of these people come together, I know that is making her smile looking down at us," Butler said.

According to a State Police report, at 10:40 p.m. Saturday, Simpkins was driving a 2012 Jeep south on Gravel Hill Road a half-mile north of Hwy. 31 in White County.

She ran off the edge of the road and overcorrected. The Jeep turned counter-clockwise in the road and hit a guardrail. It left the road, overturned and hit a tree.

The weather was foggy and the road was wet.

Samantha “Lily” Mueller died suddenly on June 27, a day after seeking medical attention at Queensway Carleton Hospital for a stiff neck, sore throat and headache.

Roxsanna Mueller, Lily’s mother, said her daughter began complaining of feeling “really horrible” on June 25.

After taking Advil and going to bed, Mueller says her daughter came into her room at 4 a.m., unable to move her neck, and with a temperature of 105.3 degrees Fahrenheit.

Lily was immediately taken to Queensway Carleton Hospital’s emergency department, but returned home two hours later with a prescription for penicillin instead of answers.

Mueller says Lily told her that doctors were uncertain of the cause of her illness, but suggested it might be strep throat or mononucleosis.
Over the next few hours, Lily’s condition began to worsen. Mueller tried giving her daughter the penicillin, but the 23-year-old began vomiting and couldn’t keep the prescription down while her temperature hovered between 102 and 103 degrees.

The family rushed Lily back to Queensway Carelton where she was admitted. Mueller says her daughter began to complain of pain whenever she tried to breathe, and her appearance had changed drastically; her skin was white with her lips turning blue.
Lily was intubated to help with breathing and given intravenous antibiotics and fluid. However, doctors still could not give the family answers.

The family was told by doctors that Lily had “a very strong virus…is it Strep? is it Mono? We don’t know.”

Mueller says she asked specifically about meningitis, but was told that it did’t comply with Lily’s symptoms.

Instead, doctors put Lily on a broad spectrum of antibiotics, but informed the family that Lily had become septic.

Shortly after 3 a.m, Lily died surrounded by her family.

“It was a nightmare,” Mueller told The National Post. “I couldn’t believe I was talking to her the day before and she was lying there dead.”

The distraught family began demanding answers as to how the young and healthy employee of a fitness club could suddenly have died.

“I was screaming at them ‘You sent her home. Why did you send her home?’ They just had no answers as to why they sent her home.”
After her death, it was confirmed that Lily had been infected with meningococcal disease, a dangerous bacterial infection most common among infants, teenagers and young adults.

“I want to know why they let her go,” Mueller said. “Why did they let her walk out the door with penicillin when they didn’t know what it was?”

Meningicoccal bacteria can be transmitted through respiratory and throat secretions like saliva through kissing or sharing drinks, or through living in close contact to someone infected.

Greenlee Maire Buckley, 10, was apprently electrocuted by her family's dryer while trying to rescue her kittens, which had gotten trapped behind the appliance

So when her kittens got trapped behind the clothes dryer in the East Texas home her family rented over the weekend, getting back there and reaching out for them was instinctual,
But their utility room was more dangerous than the family knew. Buckley was electrocuted at about 7 p.m., according to the station.
According to multiple do-it-yourself and electricians' message boards and blogs, a dryer giving off an electrical shock to the touch is a sign of a fairly common but potentially dangerous electrical issue. It could mean faulty wiring inside the machine or with the home's dedicated electrical outlet for the dryer. It could also be a faulty grounding connection, or a combination of any of those, according to the DIY blog Hunker.

Greenlee had thrived in school since the family’s move from Arkansas, where she had struggled to learn with dyslexia, her mother said on Facebook.

Lucy Ellis was a 16-year-old gymnast and school leaver from Bassaleg, Newport, whose aspirations of becoming a doctor were cut short when she died of sepsis on May 15th this year.
