Paiten's father by phone. He said he and Paiten's mother took her to the hospital more than a week ago to be treated for what he described as "flu-like symptoms."

He said Paiten was hospitalized for eight days and spent time in the intensive care unit at Children's Hospital. She apparently suffered cardiac arrest while there. The girl died Thursday night, but he did not say exactly how she died.

This is why they're sad. She's the all american girl on an average street in an average town. She has promise, dreams, potential and it all gets washed away in the blink of an eye.

I've mentioned this before but seeing snapshots of a person's life can get me emotional...especially social media profiles. You see them in the prime of youth and they have no idea that a tragedy is fast approaching. It's chilling to a degree.

When they arrived at the scene, officers found that a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Franzel and a Pontiac G6 driven by a 22-year-old female from Lansing were involved in the collision, according to the outlet.

Authorities later determined that Franzel failed to stop at a stop sign, crossed into the path of the Pontiac G6 and struck its driver-side door.

Franzel was pronounced dead at the scene due to her injuries, while the driver of the Pontiac suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to St. Mary's hospital, WEYI reported. At this time, her condition is unknown.

One Sunday after church, Kycie complained of a headache. She wasn't feeling well at all. She couldn't sip her drink because her tummy hurt too much. She got taken to the doctor where she was diagnosed with Strep Throat. A day later her parents noticed she lost quite a bit of weight. Kycie got taken to the ER where she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. She was then life flighted to Primary Childrens Hospital in Salt Lake City. Kycies blood sugars were very low and she suffered two seizures while in the back of the ambulance. Her parents thought Kycie was in a diabetic coma and expected her to wake up any minute. After about 24 hours of little progress, doctors ordered an MRI. On Sunday, February 1, 2015 doctors told her parents that the MRI showed extensive damage to critical areas of Kycie's brain. Most kids do not survive an injury like this, and those that do have little to no quality of life. She had a hernia in her brain from the seizures. Her parents were devastated and spent the next 8 days in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Kycie started to breathe on her own without the ventilator and started physical therapy. On May 14th, 2015 she was released from the hospital and able to come back home. After only 5 weeks of being at home Kycie came down with a cold. She was taken to the ER then life flighted to Primary Children's Hospital again. Pneumonia kept Kycie Hospitalised for a week before being aloud back home again. She passed away 3 days later in her dads arms

May 9, 2018 - 20-year-old Kenzie Krogh died from a combination of prescription drugs and drinking, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. The death of a Northwestern student who died earlier this year was a suicide caused by a combination of alcohol and antidepressants

I’m her best friend. she was and is practically my sister. we did everything together. as many of you know, she passed away when she was nine and she will be turning thirteen this year. it was so scary to see her in the hospital. she had so many machines and chords on and in her. i was ten at the time, and i was deeply affected by that. she is such an angel and she deserved to live the life she wanted.

this one night, her and i, along with her cousin were all writing out our future. i still have yet to find the notebook we wrote that in, but i’m sure it’ll turn up someday. she ordered a bunch of squishies before she had entered the hospital and because she never got to use them, i was given them. her mother is the nicest person ever and so is her dad. her mother became spiritual after paiten’s passing, as she was the only child. i miss paiten everyday and she deserved so much better.

It could have been COVID, but it’s too late now. And, about your mother. I am so so sorry to hear that. It seems like everyone takes life for granted. We only live once, and you never know when your dead line is. The world works in mysterious ways, and it’s good to live your best life and tell your loved ones that you love them. We could’ve kept Paiten alive, but she was 90% brain dead and there was no coming back from that. We definitely didn’t want her to suffer everyday, and have to relearn everything, so we let her go. It’s good to let things go, but the memories will forever be alive. Definitely do what’s best for your mom and tell her that you love her everyday!
