Modified Newtonian dynamics (MOND) or dark matter? why not both?

as a geek/nerd i do follow general science and i watch documentaries on science on youtube and elsewhere.

in astrophysics there's a debate, between Modified Newtonian dynamics (MOND) or dark matter?

both sides have evidence to support their position.

I'm thinking as i hear this,

why not both?

why can't you have gravity behave differently from newton/einstein in the very weak acceleration regime AND have dark matter floating through space.



of course, the way science works is then to propose a model of a combined theory, and then compare the theoretical predictions with real world data and observation.

hmm i wonder if i can get my phd in astrophysics.
