medicare and i took my mom to internal medicine doctor
Wed Aug 18, 2021 11:16 pm
the hospice company social worker warned me if i take my mother to a primary care doctor i could lose hospice benefits.
medicare she claimed called that double dipping as did a nurse.
that nurse quit and i met other nurses and other nurses said primary care is okay but specialist is not.
so yesterday I took my mother to a primary care doctor, as her original one retired July 1, 2021, it was another doctor in the same practice and had full access to her previous records.
it was a smooth transition.
while there i met a black woman who told me that with medicare, you only get dropped from hospice if you get treatment for your primary diagnosis that put you on hospice, in my mom's case dementia. in other cases, cancer or heart failure.
but that taking her to a specialist outside this, such as a urologist should be fine.
what she says sounds good to me so i'm going to make an appointment for a urologist
as i understand it the issue would be if i get my mom aducanamab for her dementia, then i would be kicked off of hospice.
the hospice company itself well i went through 4 different nurses and 4 different bath aids in a space of 2 months.
i don't care for the social worker who i believe gave me misinformation. she originally warmed me not to take her to primary care and asked if i am aligned with hospice philosophy.
