On the Case with Paula Zahn Season 23 Episode 11 - Unthinkable Harm

When a teenager is found savagely stabbed to death in her home, police hope a trail of blood found at the crime scene will lead them to her killer.

this case features an actual home invading home intruder in kennewick Washington state

this post of course contains spoilers if you want to watch this, also i'm posting pics under fair use

the victim is a white girl inside her own home

her bf and exbf were the main suspect, they didn't have DNA at this time but did have ABO blood grouping and were eliminated based on blood types


with advances in DNA they caught the killer



he admitted he was stalking her,







because he, being 30 at the time, wanted to have a romantic relationship with this teen girl



this is how he entered the house










he entered the house through window, and closed the window behind him.

how he left the hosue




he left the back door.

he did not rape his victim, but he wanted to be romantic with her in her own bedroom, she obviously freaked out so he took the kitchen knife, he did not bring the knife with him, then stabbed her.

he pleaded guilty to murder in the 2nd, got 18 years and was paroled after 13, and is now a free man.

so this shows step by step, the intruder looking at the victim, his motive, which was romantic/stalking, entered by opening a window on the ground floor, attacked and killed the teen girl, then left by the back door.

he did not attempt to remove the girl from the home. he just killed her right there in the bedroom.

obviously some scenario like this could have played out for The Unsolved Murder of JonBenet Ramsey

the intruder sole goal was to be romantic with Jonbenet, then killed her to silence her. could have entered via unlocked ground floor window, then locked the window after he entered, then left via the back door.
