A 20-year-old man has gone on trial accused of strangling his teenage sister to death in Hamilton.

Connor Gibson has been accused of sexually assaulting and murdering 16-year-old Amber Gibson in November 2021. A second man is also accused of trying to defeat the ends of justice.

The pair was last seen on Aug. 8, 2000 Larry Webb, Susan Carter's husband, was indicted on a first-degree murder charge in October 2023, in connection to the girl's death. At the time, neither of the victim's bodies had been located.
