A former lead detective on the JonBenét Ramsey murder case - and head of the Investigations Unit - has been reassigned to patrol by the Boulder Police Department after an internal audit revealed some cases had not been investigated between 2019 and this year.

JonBenét Ramsay's mysterious murder will once again be investigated after Boulder police announced a new team of detectives will review the evidence in hope of cracking the 26-year-old case. The department said it was joining forces with the Colorado Cold Case Review Team to seek answers on who killed the six-year-old beauty pageant queen. Boulder police said in a statement: "Since JonBenét’s murder, detectives have investigated leads stemming from more than 21,000 tips, letters, and emails.

"We have travelled to 19 states to interview or speak with more than 1,000 individuals."

Police Chief Maris Herold added: "This crime has left a hole in the hearts of many, and we will never stop investigating until we find JonBenet’s killer.

"That includes following up on every lead and working with our policing partners and DNA experts around the country to solve this tragic case.

"This investigation has always been and will continue to be a priority for the Boulder Police Department.”
