I just learned of this right now,

one, this crime happened in 1996, same year as The Unsolved Murder of JonBenet Ramsey
two,
three,
it took advances in DNA technology, that were only done last year, in 2020, when it was retested with more advance DNA technology that led to a DNA match.
RDI claims of DNA based on DNA technology done in 1997 or even 2008 is obviously on shaky grounds.
RDI claims the DNA was degraded, or failed to meet 10 markers, or was multiple profiles, or came from a factory worker are claims that advances in DNA technology can easily refute.
DNA has solved cases as old, and even older than Jonbenet, but somehow RDI are unable to make a connection between this and intruder theory.
The Forensics is with us, master IDI.
I also think that these advances should re-test the Jeffrey MacDonald case, to see if they find non-MacDonald DNA on key crime scene evidence and then use genetic genealogy to find suspects.
I just learned of this right now,
A DNA match has helped cold case investigators solve the killing of a San Francisco Bay Area waitress whose body was found in a restaurant's basement bathroom 25 years ago, authorities said Thursday.
A murder charge was filed by prosecutors against prison inmate Danny Lamont Hamilton, alleging he drowned Priscilla Lewis during an attempted rape and burglary at a restaurant in the city of Crockett on September 24, 1996, said a statement from the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office.
The case went unsolved for decades after investigators interviewed dozens of people, submitted numerous pieces of evidence for analysis and executed several search warrants, the statement said.
Detectives last year submitted additional evidence to a DNA crime lab and a match came back that linked Hamilton to the crime, the statement said.

21-year-old Priscilla Lewis, a waitress at Four Corners Pizza in Crockett — which is still there — disappeared on September 24, 1996 while at work, and a cook at the restaurant became concerned when she didn't return from her break. The cook went to the basement of the building, where restrooms were located that were shared by multiple businesses, and he discovered Lewis's remains. She had been murdered — severely beaten, neck broken, and likely strangled, her face shoved into a toilet bowl. The official cause of death asphyxia due to drowning.
Contra Costa County homicide detectives were unable to solve the case, and it was only recently that they submitted some DNA evidence to a crime lab. Apparently advances in technology led to a DNA match with 51-year-old Danny Lamont Hamilton, who has been serving time in a state penitentiary near San Diego.
