Michigan State Police say two Livingston County teens were killed in a tragic accident on I-96 Tuesday.

Julianna Ward Brown went to Howell High School and Darian Locklear attended Brighton High School. Their hockey coach says the two teammates were inseparable.

The two were in a deadly crash at 5:45 p.m. yesterday on I-96 in Wheatfield Township. They were heading west, when police say the driver lost control, hit a tree, rolled over and hit a second tree.
Even though both girls had their seatbelts on, they died from their injuries.

A 16-year-old Abington Heights student, a cheerleader who had received her driver's license only a month ago and started her first job last week, died Monday night after a crash on Route 307 in Newton Twp.

Kristyn Kromko was traveling west in a Chevy Cobalt at about 8:45 p.m. when she left the road for an unknown reason just past the intersection with Gravel Pond Road, South Abington Twp. police said.

She died two hours later of traumatic injuries at Community Medical Center, Lackawanna County Coroner Joseph Brennan said.

Durham Police said that Olivia, a 20-year-old university student, was from Hampshire. She had just joined Durham University in October and was studying natural sciences.
She reportedly became trapped under a fence as students queued to get into Missoula nightclub in Walkergate on Wednesday night.

One witness, named only as Jack, told student news site The Tab: ‘We’d made it to the front but they refused to let any more people in until 12. People were trying to reason with them, telling the bouncers it wasn’t safe and someone was going to get hurt.’

He added that people carried on pushing, until ‘suddenly the barrier fell and everyone fell on top of it’.

First aiders tried desperately to resuscitate Olivia, but she died at the scene.

A postmortem examination carried out on Thursday afternoon confirmed that Olivia had died as a result of head injuries.
According to the club’s website, they were hosting the Game Over event in which clubbers get half-price drinks all night.

Just after 6 p.m., Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP responded to the accident on Highway 6 at the intersection with the King Edward Forest Service Road. The accident involved a minivan and a pickup truck.

The driver of the minivan, an 18-year-old Vernon girl, died as a result of the collision. The surviving passenger of the minivan, a 12-year-old Vernon girl, received minor injuries.

The driver and sole occupant of the truck, a 67-year-old Vernon man, suffered minor injuries. The girl and man were taken to the nearest medical facility by ambulance for treatment.

“The investigation revealed the minivan, travelling eastbound, lost control crossing the centre line and collided with the westbound truck,” said RCMP spokesperson Const. Kelly Brett.
The condition of the highway at the time of the collision was very poor, causing emergency vehicles to slow significantly when responding to the incident as to ensure their own personal safety.”

The highway was closed for approximately five hours while the scene investigation was completed. The next-of-kin of the 18-year-old female has been notified.

The investigative findings into the collision indicate that there is no evidence to support charges against the driver of the truck.

The Florence County Sheriff's Office in northern Wisconsin says 21-year-old Ellie Helm died after crashing the ATV into a tree Friday night. Passenger Justin Krause was injured.

Officials say speed, inexperience in operating an ATV and alcohol were all contributing factors in the crash.

NDSU says Helm was a sophomore majoring in psychology. She was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority and was a Bison cheerleader.

Madeline Finch, 16, of Pleasant Plains was killed at 7:35 a.m. when the vehicle she was driving crossed the center line of Illinois 125 west of Pleasant Plains and collided with a tractor-trailer at Glick Road, according to Illinois State Police.

Finch, a junior at New Berlin, was outgoing, charismatic and beloved by her friends and classmates, Llewellyn said.

“She was one of those students who was extremely popular and well-liked,” Llewellyn said. “We’re trying to get through all of this together.”

Daniel Warren, a friend of Finch’s father, Richard Finch, said the teen was on her way to Ashland to see her father when the accident occurred Sunday morning. Finch had attended New Berlin’s prom the night before.

State police said Finch was driving a Toyota west on Illinois 125 when it crossed into the eastbound lane collided head-on with the semi, driven by a 50-year-old man. The semi driver’s name has not been released.

On December 21, 2007, Jessica Elkins, a junior varsity cheerleader at Athens High School, was looking forward to jessica elkinsenjoying the Christmas holiday break with her family and friends. After completing her final exams that day, Jessica joined her sister for lunch at a local Athens restaurant. While at lunch, Jessica began experiencing pain in her hips and legs, and left the restaurant to go wait in the car. Once home, the pain became worse and she was taken to the doctor who diagnosed Jessica with the flu and advised her to get some rest. That night Jessica began vomiting while the pain worsened. Jessica’s mother then noticed what appeared to be a quarter size bruise on her daughter’s hip and after closer inspection, she noticed purple spots all over Jessica’s body.

Jessica was taken to another doctor who recognized the purple marks as a sign of meningococcal meningitis. Thereafter, Jessica was immediately taken to the emergency room where the diagnosis of meningococcal meningitis was confirmed and subsequently airlifted to a hospital for treatment.

By December 23, Jessica had developed pneumonia and on Christmas Eve, Jessica was connected to a machine to assist with her breathing. On Christmas Day, Jessica’s kidneys began to fail. The day after Christmas, doctors removed Jessica from the breathing machine and she passed away. Jessica was to have received her vaccination for meningitis in March 2008.

Anna was Captain and MVP of the Varsity Soccer team at Dawson County High School. She was top of her class academically. Anna was loved by everyone and a light to everyone who met her.

Anna Gabrielle Hawkins was killed on June 10 after the SUV she was “car surfing” on went into a curve, lost control and hit an embankment, authorities said.



Troopers said the SUV Hawkins, 16, was riding on was speeding in the southbound lane of Couch Road near Dawsonville the night of the accident.

When the road turned, authorities said the vehicle crossed over into the northbound lane before leaving the road and striking the embankment on the SUV’s left side.

On Saturday February 10, 2018, Garrido and Talia Newfield​ were both struck by a vehicle. The crash​ occurred around 6:30 p.m. local time in the area of Webster and Holland Streets in Needham.



Both girls died from their injuries at a hospital.

The family of a young Melbourne woman who was studying abroad in the United States have paid tribute to her after she died suddenly.

Abbey Trinca was pursuing her dream of becoming a golfer when she died on February 27, her family said on a GoFundMe page set up to raise money to bring her body home.

She moved to Daytona Beach, Florida, at the age of 17 to study and play golf at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and was set to graduate later this year.

The 21-year-old previously graduated from Maribyrnong Sports Academy in Melbourne and won the Victorian School Sports Award for golf in 2012.
Abbey appeared to have gone to sleep as normal at her off-campus apartment on the evening of February 26, but her housemates called authorities when she saw she didn't wake up the following morning.

'To our knowledge it was a natural death. She passed in her sleep. There appears to be no foul play,' Abbey's sister Lisa told 9News.

Ms Hozen said there was no doubt in her mind the medication triggered Sara's mental health issues and her ultimate suicide.

Ayriel's mother, Shanna Hatley, was driving a 2007 Chrysler Sebring west on Martin Mill Pike near Hollybrook Road. She told deputies another car veered into her lane and forced her off the road, according to a BCSO news release.

The Sebring struck a concrete culvert, then a tree.

"This caused the vehicle to rotate clockwise, hit a downhill embankment and go through a barbwire fence before coming to a rest in a pasture," the release reads.

Ayriel and another child, 18-month-old Jayce Stewart, were sitting in the back seat in children's seats with harnesses, according to the release. Shanna Hatley was not wearing a seat belt. No one was ejected from the car.

All three occupants of the car were taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

The crash also killed a Chihuahua that was in the car.

A 16-year-old girl was killed when a utility terrain vehicle in which she was riding crashed and went into a lake, authorities said.

Kate Jones, 16, of Athens, was submerged when the UTV rolled into the lake on private property,

A 16-year-old Athens girl drowned early Saturday when an off-road vehicle rolled into an Oconee County lake.

Kate Jones was strapped into a back seat as the vehicle submerged with its mesh door snapped into place, noted an Oconee County sheriff’s report.

The fatal wreck was first announced Saturday on the Facebook page of the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office. Additional details were contained in the sheriff’s office report obtained Monday by the Athens Banner-Herald and OnlineAthens.com.

The utility task vehicle was being driven over a dam by an 18-year-old Athens resident at a farm on High Shoals Road in Bishop when she lost control. The UTV overturned onto its left side, severely injuring the driver’s arm, according to the report.

When other passengers in the vehicle lifted it back onto its tires, it rolled into the lake with Jones still inside.

According to the report, deputies responded to the accident at 12:28 a.m. Upon arrival they found the UTV’s driver at the end of a driveway with a badly broken arm. A deputy continued on to the scene of the wreck and saw two males in the water trying to free someone trapped in the fully-submerged vehicle, according to the report.

The deputy then jumped in the water with cutting tools that enabled him to free the teen and bring her to the surface, according to the report.

EMS personnel attempted to revive Jones, but she was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The teen’s death cast a pall over the community, said Oconee County Sheriff Scott Berry.

A single car crash Saturday night killed a 15-year-old girl and left two other teenagers injured.

The car crash happened at the intersection of Heritage Hills Way and Vodin Street around 9 p.m., according to the Town of Wake Forest’s public information officer Bill Crabtree.

The crash was in a residential area.

Hannah Viall, a student at Heritage High School, died at the scene of the crash.

A man who was driving another vehicle involved was ejected from his vehicle, CSP officials said. That man was also hospitalized in critical condition.

Sinclair, Jaxon and that man were not wearing seat belts, according to investigators. They also say Kassidy and the 18-month-old girl were in child seats.

There was heavy fog in the area at the time of the crash. Investigators say it appears Sinclair ran a stop sign and was hit by the man’s vehicle.

When she came in from playing with friends, Stacie and Julianna’s dad Eric noticed that her right eye suddenly didn’t cross the midline, and Julianna complained of seeing double. They rushed her to the ER and were transferred that night to another hospital in Spokane, three hours away. The doctors ordered an MRI, and soon after her parents were informed that Julianna had a brain tumor, most likely DIPG. “We were casually told that she had six to nine months to live,” Stacie recalls.

They went for a second opinion at Seattle Children’s Hospital, where a biopsy confirmed the original diagnosis.

Since then, Stacie explains that Julianna’s journey has been a “true whirlwind and rollercoaster.” She began 30 days of radiation in Spokane starting on November 29th, and four weeks after she completed those treatments, Julianna received Avastin infusions every two weeks. On February 14th of this year, the family learned that Julianna was accepted into the London CED program, and on March 5th, she had an 8-hour surgery at the Harley Street Clinic to place the catheters that would deliver that treatment three times until the beginning of May. Stacie says that while the doctors in London were wonderful, the family made the difficult decision to discontinue treatment due to the side effects it caused Julianna and the lack of response her tumor showed.

Ashlee Holtman, 15, died at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, where she was airlifted to following the two-ATV crash.

The crash happened at about noon Monday at 270th Street and 110th Avenue, according to the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department.

Holtman was a passenger on an ATV driven by Jordan Leiser, 15, of Cadott.

Jerad Boos, 15, also of Cadott, was driving the other ATV. They were riding together on 270th Street, a gravel road, when Boos’ ATV stopped at the intersection of 110th Avenue.

Due to dusty conditions, Leiser did not know the first ATV had stopped and ran into the rear of the other ATV.

Police say 19-year-old Summer Piercy of Cave City died in a horrible ATV crash at Pumpjack Off Road Recreational Park in Adair County. Moments after her death her friends and family took to social media to remember her life. Piercy died while riding in an ATV with her boyfriend.

23-year-old Nicholas Sturgeon of Munfordville was driving the 2014 Kawasaki Teryx when he collided with a ditch that caused the ATV to flip.

Piercy was pronounced dead at the scene.

WNKY News' Cecilia Herrell spoke with the Adair County Coroner and he says neither Sturgeon or Piercy were wearing helmets or restraints at the time of the accident.

According to WJAC-TV in Johnstown, the fatal ATV crash occurred around 4:15 a.m. Friday along Knob Run Road, near Blue Knob.

Focht, of Duncansville, was a passenger on an ATV driven by Trenton Bilak, 23, of Everett, when the ATV struck a deer on the road, WJAC reports, adding:

The ATV overturned and both riders were thrown.

Neither were wearing helmets.

Bilak fled the accident scene. But Focht was pronounced dead where she lay.

Mikayla Marie Angel-Weiss, 14, of Cincinnati and Perrysburg, Ohio passed away, after she lost her battle with depression, on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at her home in Cincinnati.

Investigators arrested Fritch's boyfriend, 21-year-old Jesse Dobbs, outside of the bar early Wednesday morning.

Authorities issued an Amber Alert for Fritch after her mother and younger sister were found dead in their Baytown home. Police say Dobbs is a person of interest in the case. The Amber Alert was discontinued Thursday afternoon.

"We need her home," said Fritch's grandmother, Barbara DeRamus. "This is a mother and grandmother's worst nightmare."

Dobbs started dating Fritch after they met online. He moved into the family's home a few weeks ago. DeRamus says Fritch's mother wanted him out.

"He just seemed like a lowlife," she said. "I thought what was Kirsten doing with this idiot."

Tuesday morning, police found Fritch's younger sister, Breanna Pavlicek, 13, and their mom, Cynthia Morris, 37, dead with gunshot wounds in the family's Baytown house.


The Galveston County Medical Examiner's Office determined that Fritch suffered at least 53 stab wounds and ruled her death a homicide.

An east Texas family and its community are mourning a 9-year-old girl struck and killed Monday evening as she walked to the mailbox across the street from her home.

According to DPS, a preliminary crash investigation revealed that 59-year-old Harleton native, Patrick Johnson was heading east in his pickup on Highway 154, just east of Diana.

At the same time, Isabella was crossing the roadway from the south to the north to check for mail.

According to authorities, Johnson was not able to see Isabella and struck her in the roadway.

Troopers responded to the scene, and Isabella was taken to a hospital in Longview, where she was later pronounced dead.

Bella's aunt says when Bella told people to watch her dance they just had to watch.

"She liked to perform in the living room no matter how many people were in here or obstacles were in her way," she says. "She would always say [...] 'watch this!' and so, as much as sometimes I think we got aggravated by that, we laugh and that's something we are going to miss the most about her."

Funeral services will be held at the Norton Lovell Auditorium at New Diana Independent School District at 2 p.m.

FAIRFIELD CO., OH (WCMH) — Friends of Leah Jackson said they are trying to remain positive and remember the good times they shared before Friday’s tragic accident.

“She was like an outgoing, bright-shining person and just amazing,” said Samantha Gardner.



It happened around 11:08pm Friday on Plum Road in Greenfield Township. According to the Lancaster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 16-year-old girl was driving a Ford Focus west on Plum Road near Havensport Road when the vehicle went off the side of the road and struck a tree.

Leah, a passenger in that vehicle, was transported by Med Flight to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The State Patrol says both Leah and the driver were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

A seven-year-old girl who was killed by a car in a crash in icy conditions was "a beautiful princess", her family say.

Her mother Abbi Peat said: "Our little Maisie was the most beautiful, caring, kind, smart, perfect little thing and she will never ever be forgotten."

Police said no arrests have been made as inquiries continue into the crash.

The Nissan car went into the house in Bodrigan Road, in Looe, Cornwall, at about 14:30 GMT.

Amelia Wood, 11, has died in a freak accident after being struck by a car wheel that flew off a Land Rover as she made her way to school

AN 11-year-old schoolgirl has died after being struck by a Land Rover wheel that came loose and flew through the air as she made her way to school.

Tragic Amelia Wood had been walking along a pavement towards a bus stop when the front wheel of the passing 4x4 broke off and hit her on Tuesday morning.

Emergency services rushed to the scene in Manby, near Louth, Lincs., shortly after 8am.
Amelia was taken to Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre by air ambulance in a critical condition.

But Lincolnshire Police have now confirmed she had tragically lost her fight for life in hospital.

Police Sergeant Dave Mitchell, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said; "We have spoken to a number of witnesses and will be completing a full investigation.
"At this difficult time, we would like to offer our deepest condolences to her family and all those who loved Amelia."

The young schoolgirl was taken from the scene by air ambulance to Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre in critical condition, but Lincolnshire Police confirmed yesterday morning she had tragically lost her fight for life.

It has now emerged Amelia had beaten leukaemia when she was five years old after more than a two year battle.

According to The Grimsby Telegraph, Amelia and her family led fundraising campaigns for The Children's Hospital Charity and Sheffield Children's Unit where she had undergone cancer treatment.

During the most intense part of her treatment Amelia would visit the care unit four times a week.

Her mum Hayley told the Grimsby Telegraph in 2012 how brave the little girl had been taking up to ten doses of medication each day for two years.
She had been diagnosed in 2009 and in February 2012 she had her last treatment.

When Donna Noble saw photos of a fatal school bus crash near Thorhild, Alta. this week, the scene looked nearly identical to the day her daughter died 10 years ago.

"It brought back that day exactly to the tee," Noble said Thursday.

Donna's only child, Jennifer Noble, was in the back seat of a school bus the morning of April 9, 2008.

It was a foggy Wednesday morning, and the bus was stopped to pick up other students on a rural highway, when a gravel truck slammed into the back. Jenny was thrown from the bus and died instantly.

Near Thorhild on Wednesday morning, a tragedy under apparently similar circumstances claimed the life of another teen girl.

In heavy fog, a school bus was hit from behind by a gravel truck shortly after picking up students on a rural road .

Maisie Watkinson, 15, a student at Thorhild Central School, died at the scene.
