They told her not to and that they loved her, but did not come forward or tell an adult so we could help her.

Shylynn M. Dixon 18 left a note before she died, telling her family she loved them and not to fall apart, adding that she had sent personal photographs to someone who then blackmailed her for a time period the family says was over a year.
Ms. Dixon was an 18-year-old junior at Heuvelton Central School who was studying criminal justice before she died by suicide from a gunshot wound in her home on Wednesday, March 3. She was a farm girl described as fearless and perhaps a future police officer, U.S. marine or environmental conservation officer. Her life ended after a Facebook user manipulated, lured and then blackmailed Ms. Dixon, according to a note she left her loved ones and text messages.
Ms. Dixon’s case is acutely similar. She, too, was messaging a Facebook user who threatened to share her personal photographs with the public if she didn’t listen to their demands, according to messages viewed by the Times.
She wrote in the note before she died that she “messed up really badly” and “couldn’t handle it anymore,”

A Hot Springs mother is sharing her teenage daughter’s story to raise awareness about teen suicide.
It’s a story that goes beyond the surface of a pageant girl who dreamed of one day being Miss Arkansas.
On March 19, just a day before they planned to leave for vacation, Kennedy’s family’s world instead changed forever.
“Before I started CPR, I was rubbing her chest, telling her I loved her,” said Inman.
Kennedy took her own life.
“She was squeezing my wrist. That was a response to me. She was looking at me. I know that she just screwed up. But I don’t think teenagers understand how final this decision is,” said Inman, emotionally.
Kennedy’s true suffering was hidden from family and therapists, but a group of people who Inman said possibly knew more: her friends.
“I know kids have this code of honor, no one wants to snitch, or tell,” said Inman. “We really have to normalize these conversations in our households with our kids that it’s different to tell when someone eats candy and they weren’t supposed to versus your friend took 15 pills last night and was upset they woke up this morning.”
A seasoned teen counselor, Devyn Cates said in the school she works, as a result to the pandemic, more students are showing signs of mental health issues.
“We have seen suicidal ideation, we’ve seen anxiety, we’ve seen depression,” said Cates.
“What we saw on the outside, was not what Kennedy saw on the inside. That is something she struggled with for quite some time. Even my husband and I struggled with, is this behavior or mental health,” said Inman.
Kennedy sought help for mental health issues, but her suffering was far worse than the family knew.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-brunswick/lexi-daken-report-released-1.6176697
In February, a guidance counsellor at her school noticed she was struggling and took her to the emergency department of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital.
According to the report, Lexi was assessed by the triage nurse as being "urgent" and requiring "emergency intervention." Yet she only saw an ER physician, who repeatedly asked if she could keep herself safe at home. Lexi repeatedly answered that she could not.
Eventually, after hours spent in the hospital, Lexi finally replied, "Yeah, I think I can," and was sent home with a referral.
"On the following day (February 19) at 9 a.m., the ER physician's urgent psychiatrist referral was faxed to the Victoria Health Centre. This fax was then forwarded to Lexi's assigned ISD [Integrated Service Delivery] clinician and did not result in a psychiatry referral as intended.
She died by suicide on Feb. 24.

Meg Thomas, a vibrant country girl tormented by bullies, was judged to have enough mental health support two days before her suicide. on October 20, 2018.
Gin and Wayne Thomas's 13-year-old daughter Meg took her own life two days after her psychiatry appointment was cancelled by their local health authority because, according to them, she had received "sufficient support."
But the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service run by Murrumbidgee Local Health District in NSW could have offered much more, considering the Leeton teen had already made three attempts on her life within a month before successfully suiciding on October 20, 2018.
Mr and Mrs Thomas explained to the Daily Telegraph that Meg was prescribed the antidepressant Lexam by her GP on September 24, 2018, the same day she told her school counsellor she had made a suicide attempt.
A talented netball and basketball player, Meg's mental health deteriorated after a spate of online bullying.
Now, they want more mental health services and resources for young people within schools.
Riverina farmers, Gin says of her now-family-of-five, "Three years on, there's always something missing. Your car is not full. The kitchen table is not full. There is always going to be one missing."
Wayne added: "She thought that she was not good enough and was hearing nasty voices in her head.
"We would go for a drive, and I would ask her 'are you enjoying this, life's good?' and she said 'I'm just putting on a good face for you dad,'" he told the publication.
Incredibly, in the days following Meg's death, the local health authority called the family to ask them to rate their service.
"We could have gone to that appointment and they could have said that the medication is not working for her or she needs to up the dosage," Meg's mum said.
"I can't say that if we'd been to that appointment, she may be here today. It's the million dollar question."
An investigation was launched by NSW Health, with the government organisation finding, "The absence of ongoing specific Child Adolescent Mental Health Clinical Assessment and a failure to access timely Psychiatric Assessment may have contributed to the death of the consumer."
Insultingly, a spokeswoman for Murrumbidgee Local Health District told the Daily Telegraph that the Thomas family would be contacted to "offer support through its After Suicide Support Service," three years on from the tragedy.
NSW MP for Murray, Helen Dalton, told news.com.au regional suicide was the epidemic that nobody spoke about.
"The Murrumbidgee region has a suicide rate almost three times that of Sydney," she said.
"But we have far fewer mental health services.”
Ms Dalton said not one hospital in her electorate, with an area of 107,000sq km, had a mental health unit.
"Twenty years ago, our suicide rate was about the same as Sydney," she said.
"But as government neglects small towns and centralises services in Sydney, mental health problems in the bush increase."

Chloe Elizabeth Rogers, 23, daughter of Kent and Susan Thompson Rogers, died Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at her residence.

Chloe Elizabeth Rogers, 23, daughter of Kent and Susan Thompson Rogers, died Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at her residence.
Born March 29, 1997, in Lexington, she was a 2015 graduate of Mercer County Senior High School where she was a member of the dance team, and a 2020 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University.
She was a CNA at Signature Health Care in Harrodsburg and a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church.
September is Suicide Prevention Month. It’s the 11th leading cause of death in Kentucky and for people struggling, the pandemic has only made things worse. One Mercer County family is turning their personal tragedy into a conversation that for some might be uncomfortable, but one that could ultimately also save a life.
When you see a flower you might only see its beauty, but sometimes if you look closely at the petals, there are imperfections, and they don’t make it any less beautiful.
In the Rogers family home, there is healing in something as simple as what petals represent.
“It’s kind of hard to look at pictures and I still can’t watch videos,” said Kent Rogers.
Susan and Kent Rogers’ beautiful and budding daughter Chloe was like a flower, she was vibrant and colorful.
“She was fun and she enjoyed life and she loved doing things with her family and friends,” said Susan Rogers.
“She was a free spirit and just fun loving, she loved to dance,” said Kent.
But she also had her imperfections, like anxiety as a young girl that only got worse as they watched their daughter grow.
“We just thought it’s a stage she’s going through and as she gets older she struggled through college just the same feelings,” said Kent.
Looking back, the Rogers admit they knew their daughter was struggling.
“I feel like we hid it from other people and not to make her feel embarrassed because that’s how she felt, she felt embarrassed, she felt stupid, she felt dumb,” said Susan.
For 23-year-old Chloe Rogers, the pressures of college and then COVID hitting last year ended up sadly being too much. She died by suicide in June of 2020. She had just graduated from Eastern Kentucky University.
“It’s so hard when they are an adult because you can’t make appointments for them, you can’t make them go places, even when you know they need help. I just feel like that is something really needs to change because when a person is in crisis, they can’t make the best decisions for themselves,” said Susan.
It’s healing born out of the need to reach others before it’s too late.
“We maybe didn’t help Chloe enough even though we thought we helped her by not reaching out and not being more vocal about it,” said Susan.
The family has started a walk to raise awareness about suicide prevention and also use Chloe’s story to let others know it’s okay to not be okay.
“We want people to know how much we loved her and if we can just help one other person, one other family not have to go through this ordeal that is what our hope is,” said Kent.
The pain is still very real, that their daughter in life couldn’t see what others saw, a beautiful flower ready to bloom for the world. Her absence has left her parents missing so much, her hugs, her voice and her laugh.
Their daughter loved sunflowers, so now guided by faith, Susan and Kent are using that to grow awareness. The petals adorning their home are now a beacon of hope for other families.
“I don’t think Chloe really knew how much people loved and cared about her, we like to think that she can see that it’s making a difference for somebody,” said Kent.

The family of a 16-year-old girl who killed herself after being mercilessly bullied have launched landmark legal action against her school and the police.
Lauren Lelonek died at home in 2016 following years of abuse, including three physical attacks and threats over social media.
The teenager’s parents, Sarah and Ian Lelonek, said: ‘Our daughter Lauren was a kind, honest, caring and loving girl with a big heart.
‘She always put others before herself. She was planning on going to college and training in hair and beauty. But all of that, all of her future, was lost following a sustained campaign of bullying at her school.’
The bullying of Lauren at the University of Chester Academy in Northwich, now called Rudheath Senior Academy and controlled by North West Academies Trust (NWAT), escalated from September 2015, the claim states. Documents say she was repeatedly threatened with violence and branded a ‘grass’ after the first physical assault in October 2015 was reported to Cheshire Police.
Lauren withdrew her complaint but she and a friend were attacked again that December and made the subjects of a Facebook post stating ‘snitches get stitches’.
