On April 14, 2004, 24-year-old Ronli Ratliff went to spend the night at her parents house. She had her own home in Mooresville, Indiana, but would frequently hang out at her parents rural home just outside of Mooresville.

This wasn’t strange for Ronli. According to her friends and family, she had always been a homebody. She rarely attended parties, and when she did, she wouldn’t drink. She was described as a smart, quiet, shy, and well mannered young woman.

She spent the evening watching a movie with her parents. Then around 9:30PM went to sleep.

On the morning of April 15, 2004, her parents left for work early. They told Ronli goodbye, and left her sleeping on the living room couch.

A few hours later, neighbors that lived across the street from the Ratliff home, awoke to smoke billowing from the house at 5354 Dayhuff Road. They dialed 911, and police and firefighters arrived shortly after.

While attempting to put out the fire, a firefighter made a grim discovery on the living room couch; the remains of Ronli Ratliff.

It was quickly determined that Ronli's death was not caused by the fire. Arson investigators ruled that the fire was set intentionally to cover up her murder.

Investigators never revealed the cause of death, but have continually called it a "violent death." It was never revealed whether or not the victim had been sexually assualted.

Ronlis’ family suspect that Ronli knew her killer. Her aunt, Kimberly Sink, claims that Ronli had threatened to turn some of her peers in for their rampant drug use, specifically meth, and perhaps they retaliated against her. She said, ”Whoever was nervous that she was gonna tell, because she always threatened to tell, that she was just going to turn them all in and I think that's what happened."

In 2014, three new detectives decided to take on the case in their free time, and represent what's called the “Morgan County Cold Case Team.”

Together, they have taken over the case from the Morgan County Sheriff's Department. They, too, believe her death may have been drug related. While Ronli didn’t participate in taking drugs, she was very familiar with some of the more well known dealers in town.

According to her family, she had known them since they were kids, and back then, they were all close. But, as the years passed and they chose a different lifestyle than Ronli, they grew apart. Ronli didn’t want them to get in trouble, but she also didn’t want to see her old friends become addicts.

The new cold case unit investigating her death say many of the individuals interviewed in connection were afraid to talk in the past because they were involved in the drug world and feared arrest. But, over time, some people have moved on from that life, causing them to be more open with any information they may have.

They say, ”It’s a different world today and they are, well a lot of them, are talking to us. We’ve interviewed I don’t know how many people and we follow up every lead. We call, question everybody.”

”This case stems from society of methamphetamine use and manufacture, cocaine, you name it, opiates, which is still a big thing currently. Even back in ‘04, the amount of that that was happening in the Mooresville area in the vicinity of the murder was thick.”

They are re-interviewing witnesses and conducting an investigation completely independent of the department in the hopes of finally bringing Ronlis’ killer to justice, and giving her family the long awaited closure they deserve.

A 6-year-old South Carolina girl has been found dead, authorities said Thursday, three days after she vanished outside her home. Faye was last seen around 3:45 p.m. Monday. She had gotten off the school bus and was playing in front of her home in Cayce, just outside of Columbia, according to the Cayce Department of Public Safety.

A small central Wisconsin village is rallying to support the family of a 6-year-old girl killed Monday while boarding her school bus.

Maryana Kranz, a kindergarten student at Tri-County Area Schools in Plainfield, died after being struck by a vehicle driven by the 76-year-old man on State 73, about half a mile north of Waushara County AJ in the town of Oasis, around 7:15 a.m. Monday, according to a release from the Waushara County Sheriff's Office.

Maryana died at the scene. Her 4-year-old sister was injured in the crash and was treated for minor injuries at ThedaCare Medical Center-Wild Rose and released.

Plainfield residents and surrounding communities have provided generous support, condolences and prayers for Maryana's family and the Tri-County Area Schools community since the tragedy, the school district said Thursday in a release.

BETHEL TWP., Pa. - A Conrad Weiser High School student was killed in a crash on Route 501 in Berks County late Wednesday night.

The coroner's office identified the victim as Olivia Mae Gingrich, 18, of South Heidelberg Township.The wreck happened around 9:30 p.m. on Route 501, between Airport Road and the Schuylkill County line, in Bethel Township, according to emergency dispatchers.

However, unofficial sources have said Gingrich’s vehicle struck a tree and overturned, citing slippery road conditions as a contributing factor in the fatal crash. This account of a tragic but relatively ordinary crash makes the officials’ silence appear all the more strange.

Her father, Mark Lindsay, posted on Facebook today, Feb. 19:

"Our angel has her wings.

At 10:45 this morning we lost our battle with Cyctic fibrosis.

At 3:10 pm on Valentines Day, heaven gained a wonderful, sassy, spunky, beautiful angel. Kinsley Reese Sandvik, at only 8 years old and full of life, fell victim to an illness that only days later, took her from us. What has happened is beyond comprehension and we are all in shock. The words “i cant even imagine” holds so much validity today for so many.

On Thursday, Feb. 6, Kinsley Sandvik wasn’t feeling well. So, her mom took her to the pediatrician.

“She tested positive for the flu,” strain B, Shannon Sandvik said. “They gave her doses of Tamiflu.”

By Sunday, the young girl was feeling a bit better, playing with the family on game night and jumping around. She seemed almost back to normal.

But, by Monday morning, she was sick again.

“She woke up and she was crying again, ‘My head hurts, my chest hurts.’ She was back to having a fever,” her mother said.

So, they went to the pediatrician again. This time, the doctor sent them to an Anne Arundel County emergency room, just to be safe.

“They did everything there. They did chest X-rays. They did blood work. They gave her fluids,” Shannon Sandvik said. “She walked out of the ER with, maybe they said, a little bit of something in the top of her left lung that pretty much came normal with the flu.”

But, that night, Kinsley Sandvik got worse, and by 10 a.m. Tuesday, she was having a hard time breathing and started to cough up blood. Her mother took her to CalvertHealth Medical Center, the nearest hospital to their home.

“She went from walking into Calvert to barely able to keep her eyes open,” the mother said.

The girl’s condition continued to worsen. Within hours, she was intubated and transferred to Children’s National Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

“By the time we got to the PICU at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, she was full-blown blood infection, septic shock,“ Shannon Sandvik said.

The doctor told the worried mother that the flu had compromised Kinsley Sandvik’s immune system and, after that, she had picked up an infection that her body was struggling to fight.
“She would have loved this. I’m not even kidding. She wanted to be famous so bad. She was a star,” her mother said. (Courtesy Shannon Sandvik)

By Tuesday night, the hospital staff had to resuscitate the girl and put her on an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation device, a machine that operates as an artificial lung and heart pump with the hopes of allowing the body’s organs to repair themselves without being under stress.

By Thursday, her lungs weren’t getting any better, her heart wasn’t getting any better, and now, her mother was told Kinsley Sandvik’s kidneys were going to fail within the next 24 hours.

“Her hands and feet were black. She would have lost those if she survived. She suffered a stroke somewhere in the midst of all of this,” said Shannon Sandvik. “By Friday, we had to make the choice to take her off the machine, and she passed at 3:10 p.m. on Valentine’s Day.”

In the wake of her loss, Shannon Sandvik has words of advice for other parents: “Trust your gut as a mom. I think she could have gone sooner if I did not make the choice to take her a bunch of times, no matter what anybody said.”

A family of four killed in a horrific car crash have been pictured.

On Thursday evening Gemma Cousin, 26, was driving her husband Rhys and their daughters Peyton and Heidi home in the family car.

The vehicle collided with a red Ford Fiesta on the A82 near Torlundy, north of Fort William

 Rowan was diagnosed with AML M7 on Friday, October 5, 2018.  AML M7 is an aggressive and rare form of leukemia for children.  

Lagestee was on her way to a concert at Firewater Saloon on Feb. 14 2020 when she was hit by a car, the band’s Jim Nonneman told Taste of Country. “She had just parked a couple of blocks down for the club we were scheduled to play. She exited her pickup truck and was making her way to the venue when she was struck by a car.”

She died from her injuries on Monday, Feb 17, 2020 reportedly at Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, Ill.

Hadley Evan Burns of Rhome was pronounced dead at 3:23 p.m. Thursday at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth,
